BDNA Launches BDNA Insight 5.0 to Provide Time-Based Analysis of IT Infrastructure and Tracking of Cross-Platform Virtualization
BDNA Helps CIO’s Measure Progress of Key IT Infrastructure Initiatives
Mountain View, Calif. - June 30, 2008 - BDNA, the leading provider of IT infrastructure insight and analysis solutions, today announced BDNA Insight 5.0, adding several new features, support for virtual environments, and a Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model. Providing a complete system of record of networked resources, as well as analytics for security, procurement, and operations, BDNA Insight gives executives in the Office of the CIO the comprehensive business view required for managing today’s complex and changing IT environments.
BDNA Insight uniquely combines agentless, high-speed, and detailed verification of all software and product assets with corporate ownership information and a product catalog containing more than 100,000 records of public market data. Within days, customers gain the most comprehensive and accurate view of their IT environment.
In addition, BDNA Insight delivers analytics designed specifically for the Office of the CIO, while complementing the traditional operational systems required to monitor system health and performance. The overall solution helps organizations save millions of dollars and mitigate the business risk on key initiatives, such as data center and server consolidation, virtualization, standardization, outsourcing, and license optimization.
“Running IT operations like a business provides significant benefits, including raising IT credibility, but success requires significant commitment and perseverance,” said Patricia Adams, research director at Gartner. “By proving that IT organizations have control over ‘the business’ of IT, they become participants in the larger design goals of enterprise strategies.”
“No other solution supports the level of accountability and transparency required by today’s enterprise CIO, who is directly responsible for keeping a pulse on the business of IT,” said Ray Homan, CEO of BDNA. “In response to market needs, we designed BDNA Insight to enhance executive confidence in the decisions driving cost reduction while improving risk and security management.”
New features in BDNA Insight 5.0 include:
- BDNA FactBase – The FactBase is a comprehensive system of record of all IT resources. New time-based analysis capabilities provide a business view that identifies opportunities and traces progress, allowing for a comparison of how the environment is changing from period-to-period and whether key initiatives, such as standardization, are executed upon. With BDNA Insight, customers can define the baseline of their enterprise technology, easily identify opportunities to align IT objectives with execution via cost reduction, risk management, and innovation, and track progress and make course corrections, as required.
- Virtual Environment Support – Identification and analysis of virtual environments allows enterprises to proactively identify opportunities to implement virtualization technologies, track progress and success of virtualized initiatives, and monitor for server sprawl. BDNA Insight supports virtualization offerings from leading vendors including VMware, IBM, HP, and Sun. While the benefits of virtualization are evident, uncontrolled virtualization can cause significant financial and risk consequences, ranging from license compliance issues to non-standard security configurations.
- SaaS Delivery Model – In addition to the traditional enterprise licensing model, a new Software as a Service (SaaS) on-demand delivery model simplifies solution implementation, provides faster deployment, reduces skill requirements, and eliminates hardware procurement hassles. A new Managed Service offering is also available from BDNA and its business partners, which provides comprehensive trained resources to run and maintain the solution.
BDNA Insight 5.0 will ship in July. Further information is available by contacting BDNA sales or sales agents. Please refer to the “Contact Us” section of the BDNA Web site at www.bdna.com to determine the nearest sales office.
